NAI and how we should approach it, for our own wellbeing.
Sep 30, 2025Non-Accidental Injury can have a profound effect on the staff. It can have a significant effect on how we cope, on how we feel. Personally it affects me significantly.

Some things to think about:
- The care-giver may never meant to hurt the child. It is at a point where they are past their level of coping.
- Almost none of these parents go into the situation looking to harm the child. It is an impulsive act.
- It is not our responsibility to get the caregiver to admit to causing the injury. Our job is to think of it and investigate as needed.
- Remember that the standard of care is perhaps to miss it, so let's remember to have thought of it.
